calling on Halthron! He has extensive experience on GPS. He plays this worldwide game geocache. I remember he said you could get really basic GPS units for about P3,000.

AYos talaga dito sa PPD...hehehe. We should rename it "Phil. OT Divers" ....Kaya nga masaya eh....otherwise I would not be here..... :)

But seriously, I have not heard of P3k gps units.....I'll get a few if you can tell me where they are.

On GPS Reviews: I will not pretend to be an expert here so I'll advise that you join http://groups.yahoo.com/group/waypointsdotph/ ....

aparatchiki:
since ur into techno gizmos GPS and wat nots...wats ur take on satellite fones?
i take it since some dive sites (esp out at sea) dont have cellular sites...a sat phone wud come in handy. watya think?

ok back to GPS' ...btw, which one is on the P10,000 price range the magellan or the garmin? any reviewS?

Both manufacturers should have models that would fit that range...Garmin e-trex is quite common. I heard someone ( is that Ed?) got a Garmin GPS with UHF 2-way radio tandem for 10k. You may email ed@eppgarcia.com on this.......

Satellite Phones: I haven't got one but they're cool :) I carry a VHF portable unit when travelling ..... they're still quite popular especially among the civic groups (Kabalikat, etc) Pag liblib na talaga yung lugar, cross my fingers na lang muna :)

Eric :)
