DMT What you wish you had more of

When you did your Divemaster Course,what part do you wish you had more training in? Perhaps it was enough, but if you were to choose an area, what would it be?

My DM course was right on the money. I think that if they're presented according to agency standards and intent, they probably typically are.

I would have liked more information on why my fins should have to be pink or yellow, though.

I hear a lot of people who've done their dmt saying they didnt get enough experience of doing what a dm does in omst situations, dive leading.

I guess I was lucky in this respect as I was able to get several hundred dives in doing my dmt. I found this particularly beneficial as it put me in situations where divers were getting into difficulties and I had to think how to deal with them.

Personally, I would like to see more emphasis in dm training on learning how to be a dm rather than pushing being an instructor.

It took me a while to get a good feeling for how much freedom you can take with students when assisting. The learn-as-you-go approach took too long and wasn't structured enough for me. More attention to this during the course would have helped me feel more at ease when I first started.
