I've been diving for past 6-7 years, with four of them been dedicated to education and training of other divers, both adults and children - that is 200-250 dives.

I have a CEDIP 3* certification that allows me starting a PADI DM program (padi website is down now, so I cannot provide a link).

Having a full time job not related to diving now I would like to spend my free time working with other divers. I understand this is DM level in PADI, other agencies have there equivalents as well. Does anybody know a place in New York where I could get certified? Any personal experience/advice?

Appreciate your responses!

I did my DM at Pan Aqua on West 43rd St. When I did it they had a couple of evenings a month for skills and other pool stuff that you could attend as often as fit your schedule. The knowledge part was self paced and you could go into the shop anytime to take exams or talk to someone about it. There were lots of opportunities for assisting in the pool and the other internship experiences were done at Dutch Springs. The down side is that you won't be able to do the open water internships until next spring and summer since the season is about to end.

I liked the way it was organized since I could move through at my own pace. Along with two others who also finished, we worked together on some parts and it was fun. Because it is all self-paced, however, I know a few people who started but haven't finished.

Let me know if you want other information.

Thanks, Steve.
Can you estimate how much did you have to pay total before the graduation? Course fee, materials, extra charges?

Yeah Pan Aqua would be my suggestion as well. Also Kings County Divers in Brooklyn may be another decent option. Both have pretty active dive clubs/groups.

They charge for each part, but it probably came to $900-$1000 when everything was added together.
