China is already making fake halcyon bps and wings, friend of mine found out when he went to the dive show

Haven't seen any fake wings around Hong Kong, but I do know some of the guys at one of the local dive clubs had some bp's made in China. Next time I join them for a dive, I'll try to find out what the price was. As for me, my instructor spiked my beer recently with koolaid and I ended buying all H stuff from him... although I am still shaking my head on the price I paid for those halcyon jetfin springs...

Which liveaboard did you choose?

Yup, Tristar - arranged by Asiadivers. Can't wait.

you wont regrett it, the owners are personal friends of mine. they run the boat and are present all the time. they are also the dms who will take you diving personally. its a very intimate atmosphere. not cold and impersonal like other known livaboards in town.

I bought a dive plate and harness from Philtech. All is really good came out much cheaper than purchasing OMS, or a dive rite setup. My only concern is their harness. Their harness is different from the ones sold by OMS or Diverite.

The harness comes over your left shoulder and into your rite hip, and over your right shoulder onto a quick release buckle and into your left hip. Has anyone tried this harness setup before. If so, what are the advantages or drawbacks to this setup?

Thank You.

It just makes it easier to take off after the dive with the quick release buckle. A few friends modified their continuos webbing harness to accomodate the same quick release buckle on the left shoulder. Some of the techies will tell you that that plastic buckle is potential failure point, but how many quick release buckles have you seen break on BCs? I have seen BC's 10 years old with the materials already close to being ripped to pieces but no history of buckles breaking. But thats just my opinion :)
