I just don't log dives
I joined timg, bob, lisa and kara for a double dip @ MOLASSES REEF in search of eagle rays and sharks. same old story, nothing new!! sunny skies and seas 1-3FT. buoy M1(permit ledge/fire coral cave): minimal/light current, dusty blue visibility 50-60FT, 84F @ 20 -30FT. a bit crowded 1st dive(amoray dive resort), all to ourselves on the 2nd. pics from timg,

I see it was 85deg water temp today. Why is everyone wearing a full wetsuit? Isn't it more like swimsuit, or maybe shorties...

I believe everyone was wearing 1-3MM full suits in addition I also wore a somewhat compressed 3/5 hooded vest. protection from the sun/fire coral/stinging hydroids is the primary reason and these are long dives(and often repetitive days) without the 1 hour restriction enforced by commercial operators, I get chilled even in these temps wearing just a lycra skin or shorty( I wore a 5MM until 3 weeks ago!!),,,,,

Thanks for the info... maybe I'll reconsider my gear. Packing now for 3rd week of July.

I would say the majority of the divers iv'e observed underwater from other boats the past month have worn very little thermal protection. primarily shorties, skins and swimsuits/tee shirts,,,,,,
