diving the Big O at thanksgiving?

My son is stationed at Keesler AFB. We are considering spending the holiday diving the O.

Is that to late in the season to get a good dive or is it just a roll of the dice like most other places? I hate to drive 8 hours each way if our chances are slim to get our doubles we.

Any advice?

It's always a roll of the dice, but we have a good idea about 48 hours out.
