Given the lack of innovation in this industry, this is hardly surprising. I wonder who the runner-ups were?

For those of us who are not familiar, what is Boot Dusseldorf? Presumably not a cobbler's convention, unless Avelo had some trouble with google maps.

Edit: I notice they won 3000 euro....less than the cost of one Avelo system+hydrotank. That seems rather...anticlimatic from their perspective. Makes you wonder why the contest bothered with the novelty check. Better IMO just to give them some sort of massive, gaudy, $3000 trophy to display in their lobby.

Probably collapsible travel fins
Nailed it.

One of the runners up Scubapro Seawing Supernova modular fin.

The other is the Cressi Aquawing which is a conventional back inflate BCD that is styled to look like a BP/W. [Edit - this wasn't accurate. See next post.]

The 2024 winner was the "DIVEVOLK underwater touchscreen housing for smartphone."

The award was first given in 2023. The winner was the O'Dive. A quick reviews of the website suggests this is a Doppler bubble sensor and software that allows you to scan yourself after a dive. You then upload your computer's dive log and it will give you suggestions for adjusting your deco or DC settings on subsequent dives.

I likely got a lot of this wrong. If interested, it's here: The O'Dive solution - O'Dive

@lowwall I actually dive an Aquawing Max. It’s a true bp/w bcd, just with a lighter, “hourglass” shaped alloy backplate that uses a set of plastic side slots rather than a full plate with cut in slots. I’ve checked, and you can absolutely remove that plate and put the wing/harness on a standard SS backplate if you wanted to, but the lighter plate is good if you’re wanting to travel with it or just save a couple pounds

That product is actually useful. Watch movies on deco. 60m depth rating.
We have the Divevolk Seatouch 4 and use an older (iPhone 11) in it. We were worried about using our primary phones in case of leak. It has been bone dry and is an awesome diving camera. Takes much better pics and movies that our Olympus Tough with a housing. Have the red filter as we do mostly saltwater diving, Another benefit: it downloads all images and clips automatically to iPhoto automatically when we get back to a WiFi connection. I highly recommend it!

That's the way to do it. I am buying a used phone that I'll use only to download and watch videos. I would not put my primary phone in any of these cases although many people swear by Divevolk quality.
