I am leaving this afternoon and there are a bunch of us camping in the Stillwater campground this weekend. I was planning on being down in the cove around 8am but since low tide isn't till 11, I might cook some breakfast first.

Sounds like it's worth a go. What time are you going to be there?

ZKY,

I wont be around tonight, so we can arrange to meet tomorrow at Stillwater and make arrangements or touch bases Saturday night for diving on Sunday.

We are shooting for 9AM. I'll be driving a red Jeep Cherokee Classic.

D_O_H,

Good diving with you on saturday--we got good abs! Today's diving was awesome! Andy (renpirate), ZKY and his buddy, Steve, went spearfishing outside Gerstle Cove and caught some big lings.

Check out ZKY's dive report here: http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=95859.

PM me anytime you'd like to go diving again.

Ericson

Anyone interested in getting a dive or two in on the Sonoma coast this Saturday? I'm heading up there for the weekend with my girlfriend, but she's going to be in meetings all day Saturday, which gives me a perfect opportunity to finally check out some of the sites.

Conditions are looking like they're going to be excellent.

Sorry I missed the Sunday diving - sounds like it was much better than our Saturday mini-dive. I'll definitely shoot you an e-mail next time I'm headed down to Monterey.

The abs were indeed delicious - I cooked them up for the people at my girlfriend's conference (the hotel was nice enough to give me the run of their kitchen). The only drawback was I only got two pieces of ab before they were all gone.

scubajunkee:
How did you cook the abs? I'm looking for new recipes.

Ericson

I just did the old standby light batter and flash fry in olive oil method. Tasty, but it seems like a waste of good abalone to cover up the taste with batter and oil. I'm also looking for a good non-fried recipe if anyone's got one.

D_O_H,

I'm glad you had fun. Next time you come up this way let me know and we can go out again.

BrianM,

Thanks for letting us hang out with you guys at the camp site. I would love to hook up with you for the next camping trip.

It was our pleasure! On Sunday we were all commenting on "how nice those scubaboard guys were"!!

I live for weekends like that: Killer weather, flat seas, new foods to try, sharing my favorite hobby with friends who haven't experienced the feeling of popping an ab off a rock, and just hanging out by the campfire and laughing!!! On Sunday, we stayed out in the water till 4:30pm and Jamal, Gary and Brent all limited out too, so we are going to have a great cookout tomorrow evening. I got a nice ab that the gauge won't fit on sideways even, so I was smiling the whole way home!

I thought it was very cool of Scott to share his Oysters with us...I didn't think I would like them but dang it, I keep thinking about how good they tasted. I am going to pick some up for sure next time. I just have to remember to go easy on the hot sauce :redhot:

That reminds me....as I was packing up the camping gear I came across this neat little tool....it has a black handle and a thin pointy blade... I wonder who it used to belong to? haha...j/k
