Diving Sonoma Coast This Saturday 4/30?

Thanks for the invite Brian. Are you guys doing scuba or abing? Stilwater is pretty well picked over, but can be a nice dive.

Coffee is always much appreciated!!

The plan is ab in the AM (minus tide is at 11) scuba in the PM.

I have had really good luck at Stillwater but it probably does get pretty picked over inside the cove. I usually swim out of the cove and down the coast a bit and I can't complain about the results. I am trying to restrain myself from grabbing a full limit everytime I go up there...man I know I am going to be whining later on in the season when I only have one or two open spots on my report card!!!!

Steve (not a member of the board) and I are thinking of going out and doing a kayak dive somewhere and seeing if the Lings have come back in yet from the deep.
I want like hell to dive saturday but it looks like I may have to work. If I don't work maybe I'll show up at Stillwater Sat. morning, say hi to everyone, and blow a tank with who ever want's to scuba dive. If you're there I'll see you.

I checked the tides already and they won't work to take the boat out of Ocean Cove either day. Yes, I already thought of that!

I was thinking of diving Sunday also. I have a friend up from San Jose for the weekend and we were planning to dive both days. It would be great if we could hook up for one or both days. Bummer about the boat (yes, you read my mind!), niether of us has a kayak so we probably couldn't go with you on that one. I'm all up for hunting though.

I don't have to kayak dive. I know some good shore dive hunting spots.
Steve will be into anything. Another buddy of mine, Larry, may also join us. I have to call him.

If I dive right off the beach, I usually head out and south around the edge of the cove. I will have my kayak this weekend so this will be my first time diving with the kayak out of Stillwater, so I might go a little farther out.

I am not anywhere near advanced when it comes to freediving, but I am making progress. I am always looking for shallow areas where I can extend my time enough to make a decent dive.... if I try to dive over 30' deep I am already thinking about turning back before I ever see the bottom!!!

Most of the abs I get from SW are around 8 1/2 to 9 1/4... so I have yet to find the big monsters there. Last year this guy camped across from us brought three abs up from the cove that made me feel pretty inadequate....lol I didn't measure them but when he let me hold one of them, I almost couldn't hold it out in front of me with only one hand. When I walked back over to look at my catch they suddenly looked like little pygmy abs....haha.
