Hi everyone, this is my first post in the socal forum although I've been lurking for a while now. This is me and my buddy's first season diving for lobster and I'm just wondering where to go in the orange county and LA area. I know a lot of the popular dive sites in laguna are marine sanctuaries. Where do I go to find out sites that are legal for lobster hunting? I know many of you have secret sites that your not gonna tell anyone but at least point me in the right direction. Thansk a bunch.

I believe the only place you CANNOT take lobster in Laguna Beach is Heisler Park. Can't speak for LA.
Have fun,
Kevin

Am quite surprised to hear there are so many marine reserves on the mainland coast. My understanding is that there are far too few of them.

Heisler Park is no take, most other places are fine. Sign at the entrance, if you read it carefully says no take from tide pools, but lobsters and certain kinds of fish (and then they list a brazilion species) of fish is fine.

Los Angeles County is fine to take lobaster in most places.

I guess I must have read those signs wrong. Thanks for the info. I went to malibu's corral beach and only saw and caught one lobster. My friends didn't catch any. Gonna look for a place to go in laguna today.
