Most of what we saw was above 60 feet. My wife is only OW so we did most ofboir dives at 60 feet or above. I did go down to 110 feet in the trench at Los Arcos on a dive without my wife. It was only Marc and Alejandro of PVOT, and me. It was a cool wall, but not a lot of different animal down there. The Mantas and most of the fish were shallower. It was a great time. If you like smaller pangas PVOT is a great choice for dive op.

I'm going to Puerto Vallarta next week and want to dive. Can you tell me where the PV Ocean Tours boat departs from? I am staying at the marina just south of the airport and would like to be able to walk to the boat.
PVOT sound great, your manta ray vid was brilliant.

I am in PV now, diving with PV Ocean Tours. Marc and Alun are great. We had a dive yesterday with only my wife and I, and Alun, and Alejandro from PV Ocean Tours. Nice to be in a private group. We dove Yelapa yesterday and had an incredible encounter with some Manta Rays. Look at my other thread, you will see how amazing close they came to us. Water is nice, and the 3 mil suits they provide are great.

I guess by now you know how much wet suit you need :) It was more than we expected in November (which was warmer than May). You picked the right dive op.

You will need to get to Playa Mismaloya to meet up with them. I took a taxi from the North end of the Malecon and it was about 160 pesos (November) so I'm guessing 200 pesos maybe from up there. But taxi prices keep going up so who knows.

Where is the manta video? I missed it somehow.

@bwudcock PVOT actually leaves from Mismaloya Beach via peach launch on a panga. It sounds crazy but the 30 min drive/uber ride is preferable and more efficient. The ride from the Marina via boat with 15+ divers is quite a trip across the bay. I was staying by the marina and was home before the dive boats each day I went diving with PVOT. Most dive spots are 10 mins or less from Mismaloya. Let me know if you have any further questions. Best seafood in town is at El Coleguita in the Marina. Cheap and delicious. Cash only so bring pesos.

Guitarcrazy posted it here;
Close Encounter with Manta Rays, Puerto Vallarta

Thanks! @Guitarcrazy, it looks like we just missed you. We were there in October 29 to November 7. We must have been diving different days. I know our first dive with them was Nov 1.

Marc was all excited at one point and kept saying "six" and I did indeed see six rays, just on the edge of visibility. In my video I can't even tell what kind of rays they were. Great video of the manta!

Flights to PV are cheap right now (from here, anyway) so we may end up back down there soon.
