hello im going to be diving off of ventura ( anacapa if i remember ) and then down in san diego for some shore dives between dec30-jan5 iwas wondering peoples thoughts about renting a drysuit i wasnt to sure so just decided to ask the folks who dive there

I don't know much about dry suits.
But, I recomend The "Raptor" A very nice new dive boat in ventura
.

If you're used to diving dry and don't mind spending the extra money, you'd definitely be more comfy!!! In a 7mm with 3mm hooded vest, I've been cold. Plus, coming out of the water into cold (to me) temps sucks. Not sure about beach diving in a dry suit since I very rarely shore dive. For boat diving, though....dive dry.

Not sure about this, but I think you need to be drysuit certified to rent a drysuit; so it may not be as simple as just renting one (unless of course A, I'm wrong or B you're drysuit certified). Water's starting to get pretty chilly so a drysuit would be best...but having said that, I dive wet year round with similar thermal protection to what you're using and it's definitely adequate; although after 2 or 3 dives you'll be seriously wanting a hot shower. Also, for shore diving, I'd give some serious consideration to diving in Laguna...overall I'd say you get better diving in Laguna, plus conditions are more consistently divable than San Diego.

For sure buddy dry suit is the only way to go. I will never go back to a wet suit after i bought one .... In COLD water. so nice

ha ya im probably gonna rent one then just didnt know how the water was and stuff havent been out there in so long can hardly remember lol

but ya diving quarries in missouri and illinois definitely want the drysuit i hit 42*F at about 68ft last dive in november

TY to everyone who replied

Water will likely be in the low 50's. If you're going to spend the money to dive from a boat, you want to be able to make all the dives they offer. A wetsuit will prove to be chilly by the end....a drysuit is definitely nice. Since you're drysuit certified, I'd definitely suggest renting one. Not sure which dive shops in that area rent drysuits, but I'm sure you should be able to find one.

Have a great trip!
