Diving out of Belize City (or somewhere close by)

So I'll be in Belize City for a conference and would like to play hooky and go diving one day. How does the diving out of Belize City compare with other locations? My other option is going somewhere more remote, but still readily accessible to Belize City, for two nights near the end of my trip (although then I have to worry about the flying issue, but I have a mid-afternoon flight so if I got on an early diving trip the day before I think I can avoid violating the 24 hr rule). Any ideas of where I could go?? I’m really kicking myself for not planning to stay longer, but I can’t change my plans now.

Try Sea Sports Belize. They go to the reefs nearby, turneffe, etc etc
