Dove Mt. Storm 1/1 &1/2 2006. 1/1 was good dive for me. First time with AGA full face and was neat experience. Water temp was 53 or so at surface and on 1/2 I recorded 46 at 125ft. yes 125! Only did one dive today due to absolutely horrible weather. 2 of our group said screw it and stayed in the tent drinking hot chocolate in front of the propane heater! They were diving wet this weekend so I guess I can excuse em not going in today. Sunday weather was clear and cold with no wind, flat lake, and less current than usual. Today was completely different. Waves running 2-3 ft by 10 A.M. driving rain and a real honest to goodness surge at the safety stop to shore. Yet at depths below 15 ft there was very little current. Those familiar with storm know that at times there can be a good current running from the direction of the wall to the boat dock. Today there was little to none. And though dark I would estimate vis was better deep than at the 25ft platforms by several ft. 8-12 vs 4-8. Lots of catfish and many big ones. 16-18 inches or better. Some were very sluggish as I actually grabbed at and caught for a moment 3 of them. Usually you can't even touch 'em unless by accident while feeding 'em hotdogs. Also saw a dead one at 120+ that was untouched. No visible cause of death and I did not feel like bringing it up for necropsy. When we surfaced to day it was difficult to stand against the waves coming in. Also either there was alot of runoff down the steps or someone was messing around. It was messed up and there seemed to be more rocks than usual going in and in the water making footing treacherous. Also had my surge light fail on 1st dive and backup(Q40) quit also. Just put new batts in a week or so ago and they had Mar 2011 dates on them. When I opened em up they were not flooded but batts were leaking. Will now keep batts out till ready to use. Am also gonna seriously save for my TL50 extreme from nocturnal. All in all though it was a good couple days. Jim
