O.K., I'm biased, an Editor used to be a diver of mine.

Undercurrent has a lot of useful and unbiased info about dive locations and equipment. It is hard to subscribe for the pictures, since there are none. Plus you get a travel book called "Chapbook" to provide feedback from other divers about diving around the world.

If you can't clean a reg, get Dive Training and work your way up.

Oh yeah, which dive mag doesn't have Hawaii on the cover?

Walter, though Dive Training may not be "excellent" it might fit the bill for the diver in question. Do you have an example of something that might fit better? If so, I'd love to read it. Being a newbie myself (in some regards) I'm certainly open to new things to read.

It might at that, it is an OK magazine and the price is certainly right. I've also met Alex Brylske several times. He's intelligent, educated and is an excellent writer. He's very friendly and I believe a genuinely nice person. I've even forgiven him for asking if I were a PADI instructor.

Dive Training has some very good ideas for articles. For example, last month the cover story was about mask removal and replacement. One line in that article that stood out was, "However, when some event causes our mask to flood, it generates great anxiety." That statement is negative. The only reason a flooded mask causes anxiety is because the diver has not yet mastered the skill. They would have a better magazine, IMO, if they would eliminate that type of negativity from their articles.

Often, I notice an excellent article that almost makes a point. They are very good at stopping after laying out all the evidence and not coming to the logical conclusion.

My biggest concern with Dive Training is an integrity issue. They are not above editing letters from readers in such a way as to make them say the exact opposite of what the author intended. I know this for a fact because it happened to me.

Agree that Dive Training is worth a look every month, but has anyone seen "Unterwasser"? Was in Germany last month and found a small LDS and picked up a copy. I don't read German but from what I can tell it looks like a great publication, wish they had an English version for us typical Americans who only speak one language!!!

Is Dive Training the free one I get from Padi as a DM?
