Hello. i am a gopro user and iv started to get into diving in a serious way so now iv a few questions.

Im looking at diving lights for the snake prototype tray setup. If i can receive any opinions/comments/suggestions.
The lights im currently looking at are the sola 1200's but i was told by a local store to check out the i-torch video pro4's as they are half the price (almost) and almost as kickass so my question is..can anyone tell me what they use/what theyd suggest between the two or alternatively what to get instead of these 2?

And would i be using my filter lenses for any reason with lights as iv seen quite a few videos with filters being used as well with like sola 500's etc..and threads typically say NO?

thank you,

Aaron.

I've had the Sola 600 for quite a while now and really like it. I use it strictly as a focus light. I can't comment on the iTorch, having never used it.

After about 1-1/2 years my Sola seemed to loose the charge more rapidly. I called them and they gave me a repair number to send it in. I was getting ready to leave on a trip and expressed that fact that I needed a fairly rapid turn around... no problem according to them.

I sent it in and within a week I got a tracking number for the return via FedEx. I got my light back completely rebuilt, new switch, new board, new battery.. all tested and ready to go. No charge to me, including the return shipping. This meant a lot to me !!!

Hope this helps.

Azscubadude... don't know if you dive saltwater, or you actually do this already, but rinsing the connections on the sola in white vinegar regularly will help on the "not charging fully" problem..

Strictly salt water. I do take very good care of the connections and all my equipment. In my case they discovered it was a leaky board (as in current leak) causing the charge not to hold and the charge (with light on while diving) to deteriorate faster than normal.

There was no hesitation on Light and Motion to dodge the problem, even though my light was out of warranty. Now I'm good to go with all new guts in the light.

Using some dialectric grease on the charging ports might help as well. Mine get corroded due to charging with salt water residue. It's hard to wash it all off and you have to charge frequently with the Sola since the battery isn't removable. If it's not charging properly, sometimes just pulling the charge connector in and out a few times and sometimes not bottoming it out or pushing it only part way in will start it back up.
