I'm a Fish!
I dove lake cumberland about 2 years ago. Needless to say my sixth sense kicked in due to vis dropping to about the end of my mask. So with that being said when is there a good time to dive cumberland if any?

I've never had much luck at Lake Cumberland. Every time I've tried to dive there it was pretty much braille diving. I have heard about people finding good vis there late summer and fall but I've not experienced it. They have also been working on the dam for the last couple years and the water level is pretty low so with all of that said, I'd say Lake Cumberland is a no go.

i was hopeing it was going to get better. Any word on when the dam is going to be finished?

It's a long term project so it may be a few years. Even then Cumberland is just not that great for diving. For lake diving Laurel and Dale Hollow are much better.

thats what I heard but I guess growing up on cumberland I was wishful thinking that it could have a somewhat decent dive instead of underwater mud wrestleing
