My wife and I were wondering how the diving is off the coast of Texas in the Gulf. We don't seem to see anything really mentioned on the web like we can find for the coast of Florida. Can anyone tells us some good site (both diving and web) we can check out?

I'm familiar with two areas in Texas - Corpus and the Flower Gardens.
Off Corpus we dove almost exclusively rigs - there are plenty of 'em and they are great habitats. And they have the advantage of being easy to find without any fancy equipment at all.
The Flower Gardens is multi-day diving on liveaboards out of Freeport mostly. The Gardens (a National Marine Santuary) diving is fabulous - hard coral, pelagics, tropicals in addition to all the usual gang of northern gulf fish. Highly recommended.

The Texas Swamp Divers are going to the flower gardens in August. ( see posting in Texas section ) I think there is still space available if your interested. You can also search thru the Texas board for info on boats that run out of Corpus. Oceans window did rig trips last year out of their San Antonio store but I don't know if they are doing them again.

We also have a trip going in May to New Orleans to dive the rigs and see Jazz fest. That trip has space available if your interested. See the link in the Texas section.
