Hi, I'll be in a business trip in May 2010 in San Diego for a Telecom conference.
I'm SSI AOWD and I would like to dive there one of the days.
Is there any LDS that can be recommended.
I would like to dive in a wreck if possible.

Thanks in advance.

No one to recommend ?

I dove with Waterhorse and Marissa last year both were great. The Yukon was a good dive and I also enjoyed a night dive in the kelp. Cornodos islands is cool to dive with seals and sealions

This is probably an English-as-a-second-language issue, but I would like to warn against going inside a wreck (penetration) if you haven't been trained to do so.

The Yukon (former Canadian destroyer escort) is a nice nearby wreck to dive. The ship lies on its port side on a sandy bottom at about 100 fsw deep.

The Ruby E is a retired US Coast Guard cutter. Much smaller than the Yukon, the Ruby E stands upright on the sandy ocean bottom at a depth of about 85 fsw.

I can recommend the Marissa, the Lois Ann, and the Humboldt. See the CA dive boats webpage for links.

Water temps at depth can range from 50°F to 60°F. Plan for it to be in the low 50s.

If you are interested in La Jolla Shores shore diving, I'd recommend gear rental/air fills at Sport Chalet in the UTC shopping center or Ocean Enterprises in Clairemont Mesa.

Yes, this is an English-as-a-second-language issue. Sorry.
I have already 2 deep wreck dives under my belt, though those dives were a small fishing cutter which was prepared as a diving park. For that, all the windows, doors and openings were closed with iron bars to avoid any one to go inside.

If you do have a couple days off you might also want to check out kelp forests. All the boats above offer kelp trips as well.

If you want to try La Jolla shore diving, feel free to post again (or PM) as your trip gets closer.

The day arrived, I did the trip with WaterHorse Charters today to the Wreck Alley. I did 2 dives to the Yukon.
The first one was aborted as my insta-buddy didn't feel well.
The second dive was done with a couple diving with Nitrox. They were very professional.
I dove with 7 mm wet suit. Water temp at the bottom was as low as 9 degrees (48 ºF). I was almost freezing with my rented 7 mm.
The boat's crew was very professional and friendly.
Unfortunately the weather was cloudy but not cold.

Thanks for your offer. Unfortunately my agenda is very tight. The single afternoon free left is Wednesday 19 and I fly back to my country on Thursday morning.
Besides, as I came her by plane, I have only a few parts of my gear.
