Howdy folks, This warmer weather is eating me up!

We are looking at diving in Panama City sometime around the 26-28 of this month, I was looking for some insight as to water conditions/clarity, this will be our first time to PC and we've heard conflicting stories, My wife did her 1st ocean dive in coz and now does not want to dive in anything but the clearest of water:shakehead:

Also who would ya'll recommend going with specifically how about the dive lockerDive Locker - Panama City Beach Florida Dive Store featuring Henderson Wet Suits and Brownie's Hookah Systems, Panama City Beach Florida Dive Charters, Florida Scuba Information, PADI

I've dove in PC and the gulf in 50+ foot vis, and in 5ft vis. it just all depends.

surely your wife should realize that the "Redneck Riveria" is not Cozumel. :D

Dive Locker is a well known operation. you shouldn't have any problems with them.

you might ask to have this post moved over to the Deep Dixie Divers sub-forum. Panama City officially falls under that geographic region on Scubaboard. Otherwise "Panhandle" threads just get lost in the main FL Conch forum.

hey FFEMT..I;ll be at mexico beach then,,,,maybe get together and dive some,,i have a friends son that is stationed at Tindle AFB,,he knows around a bit,,,give me a shout if interested...also will be diving destin during that time and mexico beach

10-4 Miller64 I'll get with you on for sure dates and see what we can work up.

If your wife wants clear, then you ought to head to the Florida springs rather than PC. You will almost always have 100'+ visibility in spring water. I can direct you to some OW safe springs. Or if you're interested, you should do a cavern course. That will open up a lot of clear springs for you to dive in.

Agree with Mike, visibility can be hit or miss. You're not going to get cozumel conditions in the panhandle. Visibility should be between 25' and 50' most of the time but if they get some storms from the south it can stir the water up and drop visibility significantly. The further out you go the better the vis may be.

Dive Locker is one of my favs in PC. Hit the Chippewa, Akkokeek, or oil rigs if you can. If you're going out from Mexico Beach with Miller64 the Empire Mica is a great dive.
