You'll also find Ireland is a totally different country to the one he asked about.

A bit testy are we? Dublin isn't that far away for a drive and seeing they are all on the same Island it won't take long.

Just trying to have a little fun I didn't really think he was going to go diving in a big vat of beer.

On a side note there is only one Ireland and as soon as the brits figure that out the better.

Try about 3hrs or more. Its nowhere near.

Legally there isn't and that's all that matters.

Most decent wrecks in the UK are deep. 30m or deeper. Anything shallower is destroyed by the constant pounding of storms, surge, big tides and so on.

And dynamiting for shipping clearance, or drag netting:D

Seriously, I love that coldwater diving!

String, for me a three hour drive is within a one-day drive radius for diving, so I'd be up for it.

Heck, what's a good dive site in Wales? I'd be up for that too.

Poor guys. What a bummer the British Isles must be. If I lived in that climate I think I'd take a plane ride to southern Florida and forget it.

And this from a guy in OHIO???;)

If that suit is a 7mm and you have a hood you could use it for 9 c water if you are used to cold water. I have used a 7mm down to 0 c but only for 2 dives but thats the only water I dive in. 9 -10 c isn't that bad for a dive or two depending on your experience.

A drysuit does make it more comfortable in between dives when the air temp is really low. Best of luck and enjoy the diving.

Depends where in Wales.

West Wales/Pembroke is where nearly all my local diving is as you've got the marine reserve, a few hundred wrecks and access to the offshore lumps of rocks in the Irish sea with the Seals and so on.

The other popular area is the north near Ynys Môn (Anglesey) which is apparently very good. I've never been there though as its too far to drive from the south.

Cheers to all for the good info, and I think I will opt for a drysuit course at the same time! ;)
