Hello,

I'm travelling to Fujairah in March and April and I've done some research but haven't found much on diving in Fujairah. Does anybody have any advice or recommendations. I'm going with the military so I'm not sure the I'd be able to travel to Oman or much further from Fujairah. Everything is appreciated.

Karin is on here from Divers Down and they have a shop there. I am sure she will chime in soon and help you out . Let me know what dates your planning on diving as its only a short flight for me.

P.S Thanks for your service

Hi Melissa,

Welcome to Scubaboard – and soon to Fujairah :)

I am of course biased, BUT......the diving here around Fujairah is great. We have big stuff (for instance lots of eagle rays and marble rays, black tip reef sharks at several sites plus frequent whale sharks in season) as well as small stuff (various colourful nudibranchs, seahorses, different types of shrimps and crabs etc) and everything in between. Morays in all sizes, turtles, anemonefish, batfish, biiiig pufferfish, lionfish, big schools of barracudas. Snappers, fusiliers, angelfish etc etc etc. The marine bio diversity is impressive. We have quite a bit of (healthy) coral as well, but the dive sites are not the wall or coral reef dives like for instance the Red Sea.

Most dive sites are fairly shallow, maximum 18m/60ft with a few exceptions. We have a couple of small wrecks (that were actually sunk by the owner of Divers Down in 2001/02) and a “car cemetery” with car wrecks places in a circle. There are 14 dive sites within 20 minutes boat ride from the center.

If pushed to say something negative, it would be: viz is generally less than 20m/65ft, and often only half of that. Also, compared to the other places I’ve worked, the water is cold – it gets down to 23C/74F this time of year. By the time you’re here it’ll probably be up at 26C/79F though.

So, my advice would be: when you are here, definitely go diving!

When it comes to dive op’s I am obviously not objective ;) We are a 5-star Padi IDC center, established 2001. We are located in the Miramar Al Aqah resort, which is about 30 minutes from Fujairah City. If you want to see pictures of us or the dives, you could have a look at our website (link in my signature) or befriend us on Facebook. We are very focused on safety, and we teach all Padi specialties except Ice Diving ;) You are of course very welcome to contact me directly for more information: karin@diversdown-uae.com or phone UAE 050 553 1688 TripAdvisor also has a couple of reviews from our guests Divers Down - Fujairah - Reviews of Divers Down - TripAdvisor

One more thing....Paul, our owner, is ex-marine (British). Hence we offer 10% discount on diving and retail (authorized Mares dealer) to all service personnel.

I hope you enjoy your stay here and have some great dives. You’re welcome to contact me if you have any general questions about living here as well – whether or not you dive with us ;)

Greetings from the beach :D
Karin
