I dive in a little reservoir behind my house. No motor boats allowed... I see more fish and turtles! It is awesome. Just watch out for fishing line, have a flashlight and depending on the time of year and where you are geographically, time the algae blooms and pollen dumps... If you time it right and there isn't too much tanins and other things effecting the visibility, it can be a really enjoyable experience.
