newbie101:
My next purchase would be a wetsuit. Any suggestions and their price ranges? :D

SCUBAPRO 0.5 mm for the philippines this is enough. get an IST hood to conserve your heat and to protect your ears and neck from stingers and itch.

.

clgsamson:
are you an account executive of IST and scubapro?

no.

but 0.5 mm is only (to my knowledge) made available here in the HOT TROPICS by ScubaPRo.

ist for its price and function is very affordable and has served me well that i dive in SHORTS and rashguard only.

so to add to my preceding post.

I DO NOT USE WETSUIT in the PHilippines. i just use rashguardS a hood and FULL FOOT FINS.

.:D

3mm are popularized by USA/European divers who came here carrying such thick wetsuits. since it was the thiness available ALOOOONG TIME AGO, they sold it here in the PHILIPINES as well. the NON-Thinking people then played along with the "3mm is the the wetsuit....." BULL S H E E T ... that a lot of people went with the flow, not thinking of the little piece called hood that conserves 70% of body heat.

this by the way, it is WRItten in the PADI open water manual and is also proven by physics and human anatomy to be true. the HOOD like IST is made from very light material but efficient enough FOR PHILIPPINE waters especially summer time.

TEST IT, TRY IT, VERIFY IT. don't just go for "because bla bla said so...." Use your gray matter BWAHAHHAHAHAHA

ok so TIPS on a wetsuit

i know most shops will not be happy with what i posted ONLY because they have a very limited stock of 0.5 mm wetsuit. and a lot of 3/2, 3, even 5mm wetsuit on inventory.......

sad sad sad........

what makes me wonder is why the hell is the 0.5mm expensive when it uses less materials..... but as economies of scale always normalizes situations... whne 0.5mm enters the market the price would go down. lucky for us there is someone sourcing other 0.5mm wetsuits other than scubapro.

here rashguard only at around 27 meters depth.... uy no hood.... mainit na eh ... no mask.... uso pa ba yun? no reg.... hmmmmm u think?

Paolov - you are funny but your comments makes a lot of sense. At first i thought you were just kidding with you no - nothing post on equipment. I think i will follow your reco and get a hood. I lived in Canada for a while and I know first hand that as long as you keep the head and feet warm you will be okay during winter.

Thats a fact.

EXACTLY !!! they call it a bonet ! the darn thing is you see guys in manila wearing a darn bonnet !!! now that is B.S.!!!!

if the thin IST is not sufficient, then double it. when the temp is abit cool , say 25 centigracde, i use 3 to 4 rashguards and a double hood.

to for additional warmth i drink beers lots of it!!! and whoever believes me is a ????? HAHAHAHAHAHHA

Paolov - you are funny but ...

you think am funny huh? .... :D

didn't mean it to be so.... now how in the world will my students listen to me .....

i told them to do as i say......

rats......
.

hehehe... well if they dont listen hmm... drown them! bad joke for a diving forum huh. Kidding aside i am just curious why would you wear several layers of rashguards instead of a thicker wetsuit for colder waters?

I am assuming the rash guards are way cheaper? Of course i always love a good deal. What are the drawbacks of a thick wetsuit?

i use the scubapro 0.5mm...my 3mm is rotting somewhere in my cabinet. the 0.5 is enough actually...unless you chill easily, use a hood.

btw, please get pao some more coffee...i assure you he gets funnier :D

good question : for ease of wearing and removing !!!! believe me you will use up much less calorie when using rashguards ! layers is just the same as in winter you use undershirt, shirt, sweater and jacket like so....

cheaper nope. they cost from 800 to 1,200 each three layers makes it around three thousand six hundred thats more than a wetsuit cost.

thickwetsuit HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA you should be diving in north america or europe hahahhaahha.. kidding aside. HASSLE to put on and remove.

but i think the 0.5 mm is easy to wera. like jonix said in his response .
