I purchased a set of LP50 doubles for my recreational dives

Great set up, I had a twinset made from two of my S50s about 7 years ago and they work great for me especially on deep non tech dives.

Personally I haven't added anything new to my gear, my tech and recreational set ups have been pretty well standard for the past couple of years.

Changed my hose holders from a manual QR type to a magnetic QR. Reason - I don't have to use 2 hands to clip/reclip the hose.

Also, replacing the button SPG on my pony. Reason - the old one is almost too scratched to read and I found one that has a better display.

Finally, redid the sling on my pony changing from bolt snaps to QR shackles. Reason - the bolt snaps were hard to close and open, especially with gloves on. The QR shackles make it much faster and easier to pass off the pony to someone OOA as well as much easier to clip on when I am smothered in neoprene.

I split up my doubles.
My tech days are behind me now.

Why?

Well, several reasons.
I really enjoyed the tech diving I did.
I trained with some good friends, and with several people who became good friends.
Some of the places tech diving took me, and the things I've seen have been nothing short of fantastic.
So, no regrets.

I'm hanging up my doubles now.
I'm in my late 50's, and although I'm in pretty good condition, I just don't want the physical strain of lifting and moving the heavy gear anymore.
Also, as much as I hate to admit it, I'm starting to get a little forgetful, and I'm worried about making a mistake.
For me, technical diving is complex and taxing to the intellect, and depth has a way of multiplying mistakes.
I'm speaking for myself here only. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who are my age and have their stuff better together.

The final straw was my two best and most trusted tech buddies moved out of the state.
I still have plenty of tech diving friends, but it just wouldn't be the same for me without those two guys.

So, don't cry for me Argentina.
I had a good run.
I made all the wreck dives on my bucket list.
And there's still a lot of great diving I'm going to be doing... just shallower.

Well it’s defintely better to stop sooner rather than later, especially if your mind isn’t in it or you think you’ll make a mistake.
So the next question is, will you be selling your tech gear on SB?

LM *is* one of the gold standards but that doesn’t mean they are immune to bad parts every once in a while. Stuff happens, what’s important is that they stand behind their product.

I have never tracked the “lumens” I use on a cave dive (or any dive for that matter). I use a 21W HID or one of the newer-fangled LEDs in the 24-32W range.

I thought that Light Monkey was one of the Gold Standards of underwater lights ?

How many lumens do you usually use for a normal cave dive, if you have no plans to take pictures nor video ?
