I just got back from diving Eilat, Israel. This is my mini "report:"

1. Travel sucks and connections aren't always great. Also, be prepared to re-pack all of your kit when going through security;
2. I went diving with Shulamit (Shulamit's Eilat Diving Adventures - Diving courses and guided dives in Eilat) - she was awesome and I highly recommend her;
3. The Red Sea rocks!

Here are two photos that I am quite pleased with:

Crush, I wouldn't call an aquarium shot "the Red Sea" but maybe it's just me.:eyebrow:

Seriously, those shots are wonderful! Great colors and composition. What camera do you use?

I like a nice trip report with lots of details, but this one is surprisingly nice too. Thanks for sharing.

I assure you that I was not in an aquarium... :)

My camera?! A Canon PowerShot SD 960 IS with a waterproof housing! :rofl3: The camera is unobtrusive and serves me well. I'd like to take nicer photos, but I believe that the shortcoming in this system is the photographer and not the equipment.

I've been to Eilat four times and always enjoy it. It's easy diving with no waves or currents and most reefs you can do from shore. My usual hangout spot is Meduza as they have pleasant and clean facilities. One year I left food for a feral cat family that was living there. Aquasport is another good place and they have excursions to Taba and diving from Egyptian boats.

The views across the Red Sea are incredible as you can see Jordan and Saudi Arabia from one spot. My favorite hotel is Prima Music -- all rooms there have the view of the sea. The Last Refuge is the restaurant with great seafood and views of the sea.

I just remember it as the place where I bought my first (and only) pair of Crocs... and the best fresh pomegranate shakes in the world :D:D
