diving computers and mac computers

I have used Suunto DiveManager and MacDiveLog, I prefer MacDiveLog, as it does not crash. Also, with Suunto, the USB cable definitely works without having to buy any adapters (which sometimes don't work).

Go to a store that sells software and try to find any software for a macintosh. You'll find shelves full of software for a pc, but no Mac software. The think of how small of a market the dive comunity is. If they start writing Mac software for their dive computers thay will have to sell their computers for a lot more money. (programmers charge a lot). there for their computers will cost more that comparible computers that don't have Mac software. therefore they will eventually go out of business.

Java. Write once, run anywhere. Another benefit of Java is reduced development times. Problem is, we developers write in the language we know and the management will have to like it or hire new staff

I don't understand why these companies don't write the software in Java, of all the software I have seen, this is a case that screams "write once run anywhere" that java supports.

I was trying to install Suunto DiveManager onto Windows via Parallels on my MacBook, but it doesn't seem to recognize the cable.

I have the original Suunto cable for Stinger which is the serial port version. Works on my PC, doesn't work on any of my Macs.

Are you using the USB cable? I have tried serial-usb adapters and IrDA cables with my car and heart rate monitor, which taught me the lesson of USB or die when it comes to stuff like this.
