The UCF Dive Club will be going to Crystal River on Sat. I don't know how the weather will be up there.

We had planned on renting a boat, but I don't know much about it since I've never been there. I can give everyone more info if you want it.

You've never dived Crystal River. I personally would go there on Saturday if I were you. You can dive Blue Heron anytime, but the manatees are only in Crsytal River a few months out of the year. My first dive at Crystal River (which was my 10th dive) was the best day I had ever had. It was really cool.

I may change the dive site to Blue Springs for this weekend. I would hate to drive all the way down to West Palm, just to be faced with bad conditions.

Yes, but to miss a chance to dive with a Scuba-boarder??? ;)

It'll be rainy and....thunderstorm-y....pretty much all over FL, from what I understand. Will this matter at Crystal River?

Bad weather should actually make a weekend trip to Crystal River better. I never go to Crystal River on weekends. It's way too crowded, the Manatees stay in the area where we are not allowed. They get sick of us, after a weekend at Crystal River, I'm pretty sick of us too. Wednesdays and Thursdays are the best days to go to Crystal River - no crowds and the manatees are over being sick of people. Let me know if the Blue Heron trip is a go, my plans for Saturday fell through the other day and I'd love to join anyone who heads for Blue Heron. It's a great dive!

Who all is in for diving Blue Heron Saturday?

High tide is 12:27pm, so I'd like to enter the water at about 11:55am. I'd like to meet up at 10:30am in the parking lot to do a site orientation for those that have not been there before. Others that are coming try to bring a flag for your group/buddy team. I only have one flag for me and my buddy. If its raining I'll still dive, if its lightening I'll call the dive at the surface. I think that with the marine forecast being what it is that the worst that we'll get is poor vis.

I'll be there. I've dived it several times before, I'll have a flag. I agree on the rain/lightning call.

If the weather in as nasty as everyone is saying....Blue Huron will probly be dirty...Next option for me would be Blue Springs...This time year Manatees come up the run there...last year a calf just wouln't leave us alone, just wanted to be petted...fortunately no rangers were around...I'll try an get a good handle the weather... my son, the weather geru, can help there...he has a surfing contest this weekend so I know he'll have a good forecast. Be back shortly

For West Palm...winds SSE 15 to 25 kts on Sat...wipes out any visibility even for the inlet. Very strong storms are expected with the passage of a cold front. Models show they will be in the area of Blue Springs and Crystal River around 2pm on Sat...late afternoon for Brevard County and late evening for Palm Beach....His forecast are always deadnuts

Wanna party in Cocoa Beach for my B'day?

So does this mean that the weather may be clear for a noon time dive? If you guys wanna do Blue Heron another time I don't mind, I'll head over to Blue Springs. If anyone wants to PM me their phone number so I can call you tonight and let you know what my buddy decides we should do.
