Hello All Those Who Are Bali-Bound

A mate and I will be in Bali March 4-9 but will be doing 3 days of diving. Currently, thinking of doing Tulamben, Menjangan and Nusa Penida's Manta Point (in that order). Open to suggestions and anyone who may be interested to hook up for diving during that period.

We'll be staying at Contiki's newly opened resort in Seminyak (20 mins north of Kuta). Taking up the stay-2-nights-get-2-nights-free deal.

Free free to PM me or leave a post.

Not a good time to dive in Bali. Best time is from Late August till October.

Visibility can be really bad this time of the year.

You're right Liangness. In fact, the best time would be late Aug to early Sep. I was there last year early Sep but narrowly missed the Mola Mola appearance.

But is it really that bad to dive Bali now? I was there in Mar 01 and we managed to see Mantas at Manta Point (where else?). So I'm keeping my hopes high... :)

That's a loooooong trip to make, about 7 hrs. in total there & back.

Anyway for the last few days weather & sea conditions are good again.

Dived in Menjangan on 26th December 2005, I thought the cloudy weather (and rain!) would cause me problem but NO! The visibility was the best I've encountered so far since I get my OW certificate.

My journey from Sanur to Labuhan Lalang took about 3 1/2 hours. The 2 dives at Menjangan were really worth it, even in December. I'm sure March is no different.

Hello all

Wow... With all your reports on the (good) viz, I'm really looking forward to the diving in Bali. But has anyone done any night dives in Bali? I've always thought that Bali's nightlife is too good for night dives? Hmm... It rhymes...

Malaysia-islands: From your pics, you look like a coral-lover. What photo equipment did u use for those? Just curious.

Aww.. you're going all the way to Bali for the nightlife? I can't comment much, sorry. But then I'm more of a tree-hugger (or in diving, shark-hugger?)

Coral lover? What that means? I thought every diver is a coral lover, otherwise they'll be staying home watching Cinemax :)

Anyway, to answer to your question, I use Canon A70 + WP-DC700 u/w casing which are about 2 yrs old. They are still doing good for me.

Agree that it will still be rainy season in Bali in early march...not really the best time to go there. Also, your dive plan is taking you all over the island criss-crosing back and forth with longgggggg drives to and from the divesites. I assume you are doing these as day-trips (fron Seminanyak no less). It will be 2-3 hours to Tulamben and 3 hours to Menjagen both ways so you are looking at 4-6 hours per dive day just to get to and from the sites. Not my idea of a fun dive day. I assume you will leave for Nusa Peneda from Padang Bai...not so far but about an hour drive each way.

A better plan is to eather go out to the divesites to stay or pick one of them for this trip and spend the 3 days diving all the sites in that one area :D Nusa, Tulamben, or Menjagan each have many sites and can easily keep one occupied for 3 or more days.
