Donald Sutherland may just be a junkie or coke freak or alcoholic Hollywood bozo. He probably stayed up all night the night before drinking, and thought since he's some Hollywood star, the rules of diving didn't apply to him.
I turn 50 this summer. I just started diving, and am working to become an instructor. If you're in good shape and have common sense, can follow instructions, and take care of yourself, it does not matter how old you are- That is with your doctors OK first! Go Dive!

Just read the article in Cyber Diver about Donald Sutherland bursting a blood vessel in his lungs while diving for his new movie. The article indicates that diving after fifty is not recommended. Can anyone fill me in on this?
IMHO it wasnt the diving that caused his problem but his overall physical condition and a doctor looking for something to blame it on.

I think we all remember when 40 was old tooI didn't even realize 50 was old till I saw this thread. I thought we boomers were claiming that 50 is the new 40.
