@addohm, can you remind us whether you're running the wing, drysuit, both, or neither off your Dil bottle? (If everything is off the one bottle, that would explain a lot.)
wing, suit, dil all off the same 80 on a 54m dive doesn't make sense, please please say nobody is teaching that for a MOD2 dive.

I run with two 80CF minimum at all times both with the appropriate connections to plumb any which way I need before or during the dive. I also run with planned bailout staged gasses for the furthest point of penetration as well as deco gasses.

Even then, he's still going through a crazy amount. Leaky mask? Nose venting a lot?
I don't know about a lot but I've always had a hard time stopping air from venting out through my nose. It's one of the reasons I originally had turned my ADV\MAV all the way down? as low? as it can go; I constantly felt pressure pushing air back up through my sinus' and nose. Even now, a year later, there's always some air creeping by regardless of now conscience I am about it. I remember in training that the only way I felt I could actually fully stop it was plugging my nose. lol

CLs are way too full. Every little 6" depth bobble is forcing gas out your nose. Minimum loop volume is your friend.

My MLV is M. When I used the ADV\MAV I had it set to essentially collapse the lung before it added air. Now, with the MAV I add just barely enough air to keep the lungs from collapsing.

In other news, I realized today I have the same issue on OC. Air passes through my nasal cavity, through my nose and out through my mask. I can't tighten my mask any more than I already do so not sure how to combat this leak.

I have days like that. It is generally during or just after a cold. I can't seem to keep air from leaking out of nose. It generally isn't an issue. Just based solely on when I have that issue, I wonder if you have some sinus issue that could be addressed.

@addohm, @Tracy - you may be describing Soft Palatal Air Leak. There is plenty of info on the net about dealing with it. Wind instrument players may face it due to fatigue, and I have experienced it while playing, diving. Don't get your mind wrapped up when you come across articles suggesting surgery - simple exercises or rest will do.

Thanks to you (and @Tracy). I will research this. I certainly don't feel unhealthy in any way but there could always be something I've been living with and not know it.
