OK, don't ask me how this worked...
I assumed that the Workbench was written by PC guys because all dive download software is. Then it was crammed into a Mac format.
So, I took the Microsoft solution. I updated my OS (in this case, to Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.3)) and then reinstalled all the workbench software.
Now it works.
This is exactly why I bought a Mac. I got sick of reinstalling everything to get it to work. At least all is good with the Nitek X now.
