Diver who went missing off Lyme Regis sparking huge search operation is fined

It's been reported that these two travelled from Wadebridge and Edinburgh to make this (and presumably other) dives. The distances are around 100 and over 400 miles from Lyme Bay.

If I were going to dive now (I'm not), my dive plan and actions during the dive would incorporate an assumption that emergency services were not available.
That is the assumption that I currently operate under. At this time I am only doing diving for the purpose of preventing loss, such as mooring inspection/repairs & necessary gear recovery. I'll get back to recreational diving when things clear up a little.
