What a sad and terrible story, Sean. Condolences to friends and family of the deceased.

Despite the somber circumstances, it's nice to see you on SB. Hope you and family are doing well in the islands.

Thanks Rick! I've been over in the Hawaii section the past few months! You should come visit!!! I hope to see you over here soon! :) Definitely very sad circumstances.. I really was hoping he could have been revived... I wonder who he was... :(

SAN DIEGO -- Authorities Thursday released the name of a 48-year-old
Ventura County man who apparently drowned while scuba diving in the
ocean off La Jolla Shores.

****** ******** of Camarillo was pronounced dead at 6:22 p.m.
Wednesday at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, according to the
San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

The man got into distress for unknown reasons offshore from the
popular northern San Diego coastal park near Spindrift Golf Course
about 5 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

After lifeguards used a water scooter to get the victim to shore, they
worked to revive him, then turned him over to an ambulance crew,
department spokesman Maurice Luque said.

****** ******* was apparently diving alone, authorities said.
