was this Steve Eggleston, who was reported lobster diving off of Catalina and died? Or is this yet another death; which would make 3 this week in LA County?

My apologies if my account was not accurate...I was only repeating what I was told & had seen and do not have the knowledge base to support or deny the account, which is why I came here for clarification.

In situations like this, much like a childhood telephone game, the details get diluted as the account is retold.

Thank you for offering what detail you could!

Wow! Very sad (Phil) that we lost 3 divers this weekend (in Southern California)...add the 2 divers we (So. Cal) lost 2 months ago...that's a lot of divers to die.

As an Instructor I very curious as to why so many divers are dying...Darwining or Poor Training?

Try it at home: Pressurize your reg, shut off the air, and then see how many "normal" breaths you can get off it. I'm willing to bet it's more than you think.

I regularly pull vacuum off charged hoses. Maybe I just descend slower.

Where was the third? I only heard about Steve at Catalina and Yossi Kreiman at Vet's.

Yeah Phil...in your attached link you stated [...a relatively shallow dive...]; which I would not consider the Valiant to be...however, I didn't see [...for him...]. Also: [...Tim was actually the third fatality...] and I "saw" you confirmning that there were 3 deaths. I was also confused about the reporting of Steve's death attributed to someone who was lobster diving...and I "assummed" that somebody diving the Valiant who have entered from the dive park and therefore, not be lobster diving.

My bad....thanks for the clarification...still bad...4 deaths in the past 2 months.

I received e-mail about this death from divers on the island asking if I knew the particulars. Since I've been in Florida the past week, I had no knowledge. As always, thank you Ken for providing what facts you could and to Phil for the link.
