I'm looking for the link. In another thread, "two snorkels dead in Belize" or some such, had this comment attached at the bottom of the article.

Thanks... just a small point.. about a yr and a half ago.. the Belizean Gov't started a quiet program that most are not aware of.
Seems that when they get repatriated citizens back from the US or other countries.. most are violent criminals.. they don't keep them in Belize City but disperse them around the country.. share the joy I guess. I am aware that one of their favorite dumping grounds is San Pedro Town. As always we need to be cognizant of where we are those around us..

Found it.. no way to link to her or him... shared it with freinds in country... thanks..

I believe that Jan was diving with Island Divers in San Pedro. I have emailed the owner Rudy to try and find out if his death was SCUBA related on behalf of the Ontario Underwater Council, but I haven't heard anything yet.

Just to shed some light on this tragedy, I am Jan Sols brother. We, the family have since been in contact with the dive company Jan dove with, and have been assured they are in possession of Jans' diving gear. We are going to work on a plan to some how get it returned to us, and appreciate their holding on to it. We in no way hold them responsible, as from the very beginning we thought his death was rather suspicious, due to certain items missing (excluding his gear), and the fact that the door to his room was unlocked when his body was discovered. We have also talked to avid divers here, and they also say his death does not sound dive related. We continue to search for answers, and will continue to do so until we are satisfied with the most logical explanation. I'd like to thank everyone who may have known Jan, for their thoughts and condolences. I also must say that Jan passed, in a place where he truly enjoyed his passion, which was scuba diving. Thank you, Don
