Re DM duties: I guess I'm very lucky. I don't get very much work (we have many instructors and DMs on staff), but when I do it's just assisting the instructor with the students and the required logistics (tanks lifting, equipment stuff).

Re the new DM course: I can't say that I disagree with the much easier academics and increased practical stuff. Putting a lot of the theory, etc. to the instructor course makes sense IMO, and probably some of that stuff is really not necessary for an instructor either (have you ever raised that 100 lb. motor from 100 fsw?). I guess those that did the old DM course would just have to review all that stuff if they are moving on to instructor.
