Hi.....this is my first post here, so hello everyone.

Im a rescue diver, with about 70 dives under my belt and so far I have dived in Sweden, Thailand, indonesia, Australia and Egypt. On my next trip I'm planning to take my divemaster. I have always wanted to go to Hawaii, and my thinking is that i should do it there! So, i'm wondering if anyone have some good tips regarding dive schools or locations to do it as I understand that Hawaii offers a great variety.
I will be travelling by myself, and will probably have around 3 weeks to spend in Hawaii.
When is the best time to go there?

Any replies would be most welcome.

Cheers
/Emil

I don't know yet. I'm completely open to suggestions. I guess I'm more of a backpacker than a regular tourist, so I would want to avoid the worst tourist spots.

The Big Island is not quite as touristy, lots of hiking to do, but most operators do their DM classes over a longer term as more of an intership over here. I think Jack's has a two week program and Big Island Divers is getting big enough and busy enough to put one together in fairly quick fashion I suspect. If you are looking for a short stay vs. a month or two those are your best bets, otherwise you might find more DM training options on Oahu or Maui.

Maui gives a nice "mix" between the open spaces of the Big Island and the crowded city of Oahu. A lot of the Dive shops here will also work with you to design the program around your schedule, etc.. B&B was very helpful with scheduling my classes around my time frames - there are also other good shops in town that I'm sure will be recommended.

Wherever you go, enjoy your time in the Islands!

Aloha, Tim

On the Big Isle Scuba Shack Too can hook you up. Jay will taylor a plan for you as much as he can and is by far the lowest price around. I don't want to quote what he charged be but it was almost half of some of the other dive shops and he may be able to put you to work at the same time!
