Hey all!

JJ-CCR diver and software developer here :-)

I wanted to share a project I've been working on - DiveBlendr, a comprehensive web-based tool for technical diving. It's completely free, works offline, and designed specifically for the technical diving community. No freemium features or ads. No account signups or passwords. Simple. Optimized for mobile....

I created the tools for my wife and I to use as many of the tools we found were locked up, required payment, or weren't really maintained any longer. So I started Diveblendr. I wanted all tools that could maximize safety to be in the hands of everyone.

It installs as an app (from the website) if desired and I’m constantly adding to it. Beyond trying to track what countries are using the app, it does not collect any personal data, store data or send to external sources. It does not track clicks with Google Analytics or other software.

🎯 Core Features

Gas Mixing & Analysis for OC/Trimix/CCD:
  • Real-time MOD calculations for any gas mixture
  • Trimix blending with optimal O₂/He/N₂ ratios
  • END calculations (Equivalent Narcotic Depth)
  • Gas density analysis for breathing safety
  • Partial pressure blending calculator
  • Real gas physics corrections using Van der Waals equations
  • Shows the math behind calculations of mixes so each person can VERIFY, not blindly follow.
Planning Tools:
  • SAC calculator for gas consumption planning
  • Bottom time calculator based on gas supply (cave or normal reserve planning)
  • Tank pressure testing calculations
  • Gas blender for partial pressure fills

Other
  • Tide data based on geolocation including “Diving Score” based on conditions
  • Photo cleaner - used to apply various best in class presets to photos. Includes in browser noise reduction and sharpening. Still a work in progress, but actually much better than most apps to include GoPro Quik IMO.
Safety Systems:
  • Always Conservative rounding (O₂ rounds down, He rounds up for safety, MOD rounds down)
  • Visual warning system with color-coded alerts
🔧 Technical Highlights

Progressive Web App (PWA) - Install like a native app on any device
Offline functionality - Core calculations work without internet
Real gas physics - Van der Waals corrections for accuracy at depth (not just linear like most dive apps, but actual polynomial VdW calcs)
Real world testing of blending, calculations, and various component data

🚀 Constant Development

This is an active project that I'm continuously improving based on real-world feedback from technical divers. I do plan to integrate full dive planning as well as some other complex tools but these will take a bit to refine.

🤝 Community Feedback Welcome

I'm actively seeking feedback from the technical diving community!

What features would be most valuable to you? I’m somewhat limited by my own imagination and/or asking around. Without adding considerable overhead or violating privacy, I'm open to adding features that would be beneficial and not covered by other apps.

Questions? Feature requests? Bugs to report? Drop a comment below or reach out directly. I'm committed to making this tool as useful as possible for our community. There is also a feedback form on the site.

Lastly - you can use the form on the site to submit your resources to the links page. I use this update with blogs, youtube channels, tools, shops or anything people might want access to in one place.

Safe diving! 🤿

That was exactly the same reason I got into writing deco software. Everybody should have access to the tools they need. Good luck with it, it's a worthwhile project.

Tell me more :-). What's your software? Is it available online that I can add to the links list and try personally? Happy to explore and learn. I had planned to add dive/deco planning but so many have already done this that I probably don't need to reinvent the wheel (except for my own frivolous pursuits / challenges). That said, I've been stuck with MultiDeco which I definitely don't love.

Thanks for sharing. One thing I am missing compared to my spreadsheet is the target density as a parameter. I see that you target 5.9g/L while I typically plan for 5.2g/L for my bottom gas.

The gas playground area does allow you to tweak your mix to achieve specific gas densities. The recommendations section is pretty tough since there are so many caveats and preferences for the various configurations. I usually only cap at 6.2g/L for CCR personally, but certainly it depends on depth, END, and your pocketbook :-). Cheers!

Thanks a lot for sharing, I’ll give it a try and see if I have any suggestions

Do you mean it can embed into other websites (eventually)? That would be a neat feature, I know a couple of souls out here who’d be interested in using that

It was a Windows program called XS that I made years ago. I've not got it hosted anywhere anymore but it might be archived somewhere on the web. When I made it there wasn't a lot of choice for deco programs and what there was was was really expensive.

My main focus now is making an open source rebreather controller, ppO2 monitor and dive computer so that rebreathers that are either no longer made or no longer supported can live on. Based around ESP32 controllers and off the shelf products (like those made by Blue Robotics). Again, it's so people can have access to tools they need without cost being the main factor.

Amazing. I'd love to learn more about your controller as you develop it. I personally work with ESP32 / 8266 controllers and think this is an amazing and worthwhile venture. Super interesting!

I'm not sure I completely follow.

The current site could be embedded in other sites (if they properly set up the code). Diveblendr isn't set to embed sites into it; the links page is more of a gateway to useful tools, apps, blogs, channels etc.

Can you elaborate? I might be missing your point. Thanks!
