I'm looking at dive watches that have the option of including a compass. I know the compass usually comes with the console, but maybe not.

I looked at Citizen. But they don't seem to have a watch with the option for a compass. But a company called Genesis does. Read it in Leisure Pro. It's called the Escort. It can be worn around the wrist or hang from your BC. Has anyone tried this one?

Thanks.

Hello there ScubaBear2000, welcome to the boards!

I haven't seen or used and compasses that come on watches that i would trust for navigation. I would highly recommend that you picked up a seperate, professional compass unit for navigation. I personally use the US Divers Supertilt compass on a retractable lanyard that I clip off to my B.C. this way it's out of my way until i need it, and it's much easier to keep level and in line with your torso. The supertilt feature allows you to hold it at radical angles(not that you would, but you could) and still get great readings.

As for watches I have a Citizen Titanium Duplex and it works flawlessly. It's so accurate i use it as a backup computer and read it almost exclusively during safety stops. It activates automatcally. It logs, time of start of dive and end. Total dive time in minutes and seconds. Average depth as well as max depth. Min water temp. Violations. If you choose to go with the Hyper Aqualand model, you can download your dive profile to a computer, print and show people or keep them logged on your computer. I definitely recommend the Citizen dive watches, not only are they great tools, but fashionable time peices as well.

Suunto Spyder. Compact and worn like a watch and ... complete. Not too conservative and not too liberal. Another computer that would be in the same level as far as conservatism is concerned would be Uwatec Aladin Pro.

I agree with the previous post that you should have a separate compass. You can use a wrist compass or use a retractor to hold your compass. In my case, I put it in my BCD pocket since I am fairly familiar with the local dive sites here in my area.

Have fun diving...
