Looking to take my two kids (17 & 20). We are all experienced divers.

Goal of the trip would be to check out the keys and do some great diving.

Have been to key west a long time ago, but have not been diving in the area. Would really appreciate insights on the following:

Is the diving good this time of year?
Are some keys much better than other for diving?
Any recommendations on best dive operators?
Any places to stay that are great?

Any other thoughts would be great and very appreciated. Realize it will be crowded due to holiday but willing to pay the freight.

Thanks

But I have been to Florida in August and in April and it rained the whole week both times, so is there a not-so-rainy time of year?

There are several current threads for suggestions on Keys diving and hotels.... check those out.

Weather in the winter is spotty..... lots of wind, and rough marine conditions, that ends up cancelling trips: with that said, some December's are fantastic. You just never know.

South Florida is sub-tropical, which means it rains and it's humid. Usually in the late spring to early fall, it will rain daily in the afternoon for a bit. It's impossible to predict those multi-day long downpours, they can happen anytime. When I lived there, we had them in the winter, summer, spring and fall. Francesea, you just got unlucky with your trips.

Mid>late June is just spectacular viz and great conditions. If it should rain you can either...

A) wait 10 mins and it will stop,,,,,B) Drive 2 miles and you'll be in sunshine again.
