Dive site closures due to coral bleaching?

Hi All

We're a couple of dive pro's working out of Koh Tao looking to combine our visa runs with a spot of fun diving ..... hopefully in the Perhentians, could anyone clarify what is actualy the case in regards to dive site closures due to bleaching? there's a lot of talk up here in Thailand about the closures but no facts .... could you anyone who is there or have any sound info please clarify? we are planning on spending the last week of Feb 11 there.

I have not heard of sites being closed in the Perhentians but, then again, no one is diving there now. The monsoon is in full swing and likely will be through February. I have been diving in Tioman one year as easly as 15 February and the seas were extremely rough (as in airbourne liveaboard), extremely poor viz for the area (2-5m) and surge that kept me rocking throughout the dives down to 20m.

End of Feb, you may want to try P. Weh, Indonesia if you don't have long.
