I can't see why you paid up front. It should of been paid in installments, so much every time so much more was built. But then again if your not close by, you never know if it is even being built. Let the buyer beware.

Yeah I dont know why all of you are freaking out about paying up front... there are a lot of times where you pay for something before delivery. When you go through the drive through at McDonalds, do you demand to eat your burger before you pay for it?

Ok, so maybe we're not talking value menu prices here... so here's another example: If you ever want to reserve a fancy venue for, say, a wedding, they'll typically have you pay the entire fee up to 6 months in advance, and this can easily be $10,000+ depending on where you go... so in some industries, and in some cases, it's very common to have to pay up front.

Bottom line is Aqua Logic paid for a product that was never delivered. People like this ruin it for everyone.

This is a little bit different as the worst that can likely really happen is they double book the venue for another client and you are SOL. It's not likely that the venue will disappear - which means you have a better chance of tracking the owners in a dispute. For someone promising to deliver an expensive piece of equipment, I definitely wouldn't pay for it up front. A reasonable deposit, sure.

When was the last time you went on a dive holiday and did'nt pay until you got home.
Give the guy a break. He got ripped off by a thief. Ya maybe he should have payed in installments but that's not the point. It's nice to see you guys are all so supportive down there in Florida.

Maybe but I've been buying expensive manufacturing equipment for 15 years now and we never pay in full up front...never. Typically at least the last third is contingent on delivery, installation and testing. A typical up front payment is between 10% and 30%.

Delays are common so the more you can withhold to use as incentive and leverage the better.

For off the shelf equipment you shouldn't be paying anything at all until the equipment is shipped or delivered.

People pay money up front for things every day.

That may be true in some cases, but that doesn't mean it's always a smart thing to do. I'm sure this is a big lesson learned for the dive shop(s).

Anyway, is it just me or is Florida the scam capital of the US? Is there something in the water down there?

Just kidding... :D

Well, kinda....

Again, not the same thing. If you go on a trip and end up not paying in the end, there is no recourse as they cannot reposess a used vacation.

The comments made about our company is not true. We are currently working on a strategy
to deal with this problem. We will let you know more information in the very near future.

Thank you for asking us directly, will get back to you soon with more info.

Subject: Gear

Whats the big deal about you not coming up with the gear after a year of waiting is this true? Just wondering for my own good so I know the truth about this type of crap. I have been black balled myself with a lie so I allways check the source.
Thanks
Derek
Cheers

I looked up both companies on the Better Business Bureau. Undersea is listed but they are neither a member nor are there any known complaints. I was unable to find Auqa Logic at all. My advice is, join the BBB for your own operation's credibility and get everyone that has been scammed to lodge a complaint about Undersea. Without any history on the BBB it damages your story's credibility. Next I'd take the same group of shops to the attorney general's office. Until you have done these things you could be in danger of a suit from Undersea for spreading hearsay to damage their business.
