I just moved to DC (Crystal City area) and haven't been diving in two years. I used to live I SE Asia and dived all over the place, but only tropical conditions. i hate wearing anything thicker than a 3mm wetsuit. I have my AOW and probably 60 or so dives.

Anyway, I am going to Riviera Maya in a couple of months with my family and I wanted to do some diving. Looking for a suggestion of a local shop where I can do a refresher and/or possibly the peak buoyancy class (I took this before and really liked it).

I only still have my mask and fins and don't plan on getting much else. Was thinking about a dive computer, but not sure if it's worth the $ for a dozen dives a year.

Check out Submerged dive shop in Rockville, MD. They have an Extreme Scuba Makeover class which can be done in a few hours and really fine tunes your trim, buoyancy, and introduces propulsion techniques, as well as teaches you to do basic skills off your knees while hovering mid-water. You will dial in your exact weighting requirements and it is a great way to sharpen your skills before a trip.

Check them out. This mini course is much more useful than the typical peak performance buoyancy class. Hit me up if you have any questions.
