I have a Rec Wing. I have used it with double AL 80's wet and dry, single Al80 wet, Double LP 85's wet, Double LP95's Double lp98's wet and dry. Used with Al80 stage bottles and LP 45 stage bottles. Both wet and dry I could adjust my trim. When carrying the double 98's SS plate and LP steel 45's as stages (dry)I was not quite comfortable with the amount of lift I had. In all other situations I felt it was enough. The length of the wing creates a foot light problem with my dry suit and a heavy undergarment using the LP 98's. I switched to a Classic wing for this configuation and am happy with the trim.
Hope this helps.

Now lets say you are making a dive using a al bp. al80 tank. carrying an al40 stage. in a 7mm full, with hood and gloves wearing 16lbs. would the venture wing have enough lift for this setup.

That's probably right on the edge. The bouyancy swing on the 80 and 40 is about 8 lb. A 7mm full with hood and gloves should produce no more than 25 lb of bouyancy at the surface which would dwindle to 5 lb at 5atm resulting in a 20 lb swing. So you need to be able to compensate for being up to 28 lb negative at 5 atm depth for that wing to work. Would be close. Change that 7mm full to a 7mm 2-piece with 35 lb of bouyancy and you have a clear problem with lift after the neoprene compresses.

Would it not be safe to do that. or is that as far as one should take it. Ie: nothing bigger then an al40 stage.
*edit*
I have not dove like that. I found the venture on ebay. I am just looking for a wing that can do what I am planning on doing. I don't want to get one wing for both singles and doubles. I want one for each. I was looking at the venture or the Halcyon eclipse 40#. Which would you go with

I'm curious of why nobody recomended the Trek Wing, has the gusset control system and is only 40# lift.
Good for both singles and light to medium doubles.

I find a 51# wing to big for singles, but to each their own (I dive a bungied 45# with singles with no problems at all)

I dive a travel wing adapted to a BP but the most neoprene I use is 5mm with 3mm shorty that has about 20 lb of bouyancy. With an Al 80 the max bouyancy swig is about 20 lb and it seems to work fine. If my estimates are right on the bouyancy of that 7mm and you want to take that rig to 130 ft, you really might be better off with something offering 35 to 40 lb lift.

The venture wing looks good and price should be reasonable. Would work just fine if you assume 100ft max rather than 130.

I think the Trek Wing sounds like a perfect compromise. I dive the Trek Wing's precursor--the Jr Wing--which has the same lift as the Trek Wing (maybe ~5# more) but is not bungeed--it is made of the the stretch material (like the Travel Wing) and has clips to hold down the wing tips. I dive an LP95, a 19 cf pony, and a DUI CF200 drysuit with Polartec underwear--and I probably add too much weight--and the Jr Wing has served me just fine. Been able to rise from 130 ft with no problem. Great wing.
