Has anyone had any experience with the Dive Rite Nitek Plus? I'm interested in any pros/cons anyone can think of. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Pick up the latest copy of Scuba Diving magazine. They did a review of it. I'm not in the market for a computer, so I didn't read it in detail, but noticed it got their tester's choice and best buy ratings.
Not sure if their ratings mean anything, but it got them...

I use one as a backup for OC and gauge for CC diving.
Works well and is easy to use.

Major drawback (as with all computers that size) is readability.
The important numbers are pretty easy to view, but the tiny descriptions are almost impossible to decipher. Once you get the hang of it it's okay, but it'll take a few dives to get accusomed to the display. Also, with plenty of info available you have to scroll through several screens to view it all.

Those are the reasons that I use it as a backup/gauge only, I prefer to see data with a quick glance.

Another setback is the batteries are not user changeable.
I do like the ability to view the dive profile from memory without a computer.

The ratings in that article are somewhat of a joke. All of the computers received the "Tester's Choice". You have to read between the lines to find out about the differences between the units.

With respect to the Dive-Rite NiTek Plus, it uses the same Seiko computer as the Dive-Rite NiTek Duo, which was also in the test. (Also the same computer that's used in Tusa and Apeks dive computers.) I have an Apeks Quantum (equivalent of the NiTek Duo) and I'm very happy with it. The only issue I'd have with the NiTek Plus is the size of the screen for use in low-vis. If you can deal with that, then the NiTek Plus is probably a great computer for the money.

Well if Rodale's says it's good it must be! (just like Rodales promotes "stream lining" so effectively)
