I felt that one wing should be able to do both singles and smaller doubles with moderate success.

I didn't want to pay for two wings and I didn't need MORE scuba stuff crowding me out of house and home(can't believe I said that).

I have found the Dive Rite Rec wing to be the perfect balance betweent the two. I don't notice the lack of streamlining since I am an U/W photographer and move very slowly. I don't use a scooter either so again streamlining is a non-issue. With my dry suit on I slog around like a massive wounded carp U/W-the wing really doesn't add that much drag relative to the camera setup and drysuit.

I use AL80s now but want to use small doubles in the future and I think the rec wing will be perfect.

Hello -

Back in the day I purchased a DR Trek wing to use with single tanks. At the time I was using a Halcyon 55# wing with singles. My buddy purchased a Trek as well.

The trek is a lot better for single tanks than the big halcyon.

However, it is still really big. I have since moved to a Halcyon pioneer for my singles. My buddy has also moved over to a Pioneer. I feel that this is a much better configuration.

One thing to look out for is that the Trek is probably a little small for big steel doubles. My Halcyon 55# is right on the edge when I have a full load of gear and stages with my 104s.

If I were to do it again I would purchase a dedicated single tank wing first and then a doubles wing later.

Peter

The trek wing minus the bungies in good for double al 80's and small steel doubles like my lp 85's. That's what I use mine for.

I dive the DiveRite Transplate with the rec wing and a E8-130 tank. It's been an excellent set up and doesn't trap air at all.

Perhaps wing design is as important as wing volume with regards to stabilization characteristics, air trapping and streamlining.

The Rec wing is relatively narrow on the lateral aspect as compared to the classic wing. This might account for the Rec wings great streamlined qualities and it's ability to easily dump air-air migrates to the larger bottom area where the dump valve is located.

It works like a dream.
