Ok guys and girls. The time has come to finally break down and start buying my own equipment. I know everybody on this board , or almost everybody, swears by Apeks. I know buying them locally will cost me a fortune. I was considering buying them from Dive Inn, because they have great prices. However, I would like to support my LDS if at all possible. Considering what my favorite local shop carries, I have narrowed it down to an Atomic Z1 or a Dive Rite. I know the Z1 is a great reg, but how do the Dive Rite regs stack up against the Atomics and Apeks? The first Rodale review I read wasn't great, but the latest review seems much better? Anyone have thoughts or opinions? I would love to hear from any Dive Rite owners, or even Atomic owners.

They seem to work fairly well. Never a problem.

They breathe really easy.

I use the DIN adaptor when I rent tanks.

I've never used an Atomics/Apex, so I can't really help there.

Anybody know the answer? Or does some other
company build for Dive Rite and slap a Dive
Rite name on it?

I have a Dive Rite second stage. Any new regs I buy in the foreseeable future will be Dive Rite. There really is no way to justify the additional $$$ for the Apeks stuff.

Another great feature of this reg is you can download the service manual free online and buy service kits yourself.

personally I love my apeks , and wouldn't trade it I have used a dive-rite reg and yes they ok but my apeks breaths as easy as they come

Here's an idea.

Buy the Apeks regs from DiveInn, then determine how much you would have spent on the Atomics at your LDS.

Divide the difference in two. Write this amount on a check made out to your LDS.

Everyone is happy :)

better yet buy a atomic or apeks at local dive store don't buy on-line either one is better than the dive-rite reg, all though the apeks I like better !!!!!!!!

are pretty much scuba pro regs

I don't think this is true. The DR are made by someone else but I'm pretty sure it isn't Scuba Pro.

I'm pretty sure DR does not make their own regs. I don't remember who makes them and DR won't reminde me. They are however a unique regulator and simply a different make with a Dive Rite sticker.'
