Went out with Arstakat and Captain Jamie out of Venice FL. on Memorial Day for a great day of diving. The gulf was calm and the water was warm (83F). Visibility was 4-8ft making this a little different from the dives on the Atlantic side of Florida. This was my first time fossil hunting, and the crew gave a good briefing of what to do and look for. I found whale bones, Dugong bones, and two Meg teeth. If you have not done a fossil dive I highly recommend it.

I went out last Sunday (5/25), from the South End of Venice Beach. Viz was about ten ft at best. Found some nice teeth around the concrete artificial reef boulders that have been dropped on the reef in that area. There was a surprising amount of fish life there too which was good to see.

Any local people know if there is parking at casperson or blind pass ? Bringing a non diver down and would like to let her find some teeth on/near the beach while i dive . Any suggestions that are easy ?

Not sure if anyone is reading this . I’m planning to do some diving aug 4-6 and August 22-28. May take my boat out if it’s ready or do some beach diving. .wouldn’t mind another person to tag along with if you’d like to hang out those days .

Went out with Arstikat and Captain Miles out of Venice FL on July 19th. It was our first time fossil/ meg tooth hunting and like a ll hunting sometimes you go big, sometimes its just alright and sometimes you come up empty handed. Fortunately, for us while the conditions 4-5 feet of visibility with a pretty calm were good most of the spots were pretty picked over leaving our dive guide and captain shaking their heads. After a solid crew briefing on what to do and some more direction from our dive guide we set out on4 dives. We found whale bones, camel bone, a mammoth tooth, and plenty dugong bones, as well as a couple of partial Meg teeth and a very nice mako tooth. I would highly recommend a a fossil dive with Aristikat Charters, nice well maintained boats and good crew. Ask for Capt Miles and I would recommend a dive guide, it is $60 and worth every penny, particularly if you have never done it before.

Everyone was saying they need a small storm to turn over the matrix to turn up more teeth so time your trip accordingly.

Glad to see some activity on here again. I've been down in St. Pete area since April (work related) and have been beach diving the Venice / Englewood areas most weekends.

Been at the following multiple times:
Blind Pass in Englewood
Service Club area in Venice
South Broward Park (as close as you can park to Caspersen since it's closed to traffic)
Manasota Key Beach area

Lots of small teeth and assorted fossils from above areas. Been shut out on Megs, only a couple of small fragments. Did find my first Mammoth tooth.
Have used my Inflatable Hybrid SUP/Kayak on several dives to get out past a mile+ offshore 27'-30' depth. Just haven't found a complete Meg yet.

Where are you parking to dive here ? I tried to dive it yesterday and there are no parking signs all down that road and the road that is perpendicular to that road . If you need to dm me feel free to. Thanks
