correction---Venice is good for boat diving in March but not shore diving in my opinion.
Went to Bird Key again today to check conditions before weekend. Hardly any breeze to speak of around noontime. Water calm...70* surface...milky green... in chest deep water at bottom couldn't see fingers at end of arm...no red tide or dead fish like a couple weeks ago...beautiful day...didn't even bother to try diving...still chilly on surface for 3mil...5 will be better this weekend for you springbreakers.

Weighing all options (still considering Venice)…are there any hotels that are convenient to walk right out to the beach and shore dive from like you can at LBTS?

I may split my time between LBTS and Venice. We’ll see.

All depends upon how thickly your pockets are lined with gold.

Most of what I’m seeing is within my budget. My issue is that there isn’t a lot of information online (that I can find) about staying at/around the beach and shore diving. I’d rather pay extra for a hotel that has good beach access (I’d prefer to not have to drive a mile to park somewhere anf setup) and is diver friendly.

Looking at Aristakat…all of the days that I’m planning on being there next week have empty boats. If I’m not happy with the shore diving, that was going to be my backup. If I can’t even count on the boat leaving the dock, I might just have to scratch this spot for this trip.

Like I said, Spring Break has started so doubtful there are any vacancies on the water. I don't know about what the upcoming ocean diving forecasts are saying (I can't afford them so I don't follow them). Maybe someone with that knowledge will chime in. There should be plenty of hotels with vacancies inland. You just need to rent a car for your stay. Many of the major arteries from I-75 go straight to the beaches pretty much and have tons of hotels at the exits. 15-20 minute ride if no traffic problems. Secret is to get to the beaches before 9 or midafternoon.
